What brings you here? Painful periods · Menopause · PMS · Fertility
Dysmenorrhoea · Painful periods
Painful periods: no, it’s not normal
Suffering every month is not inevitable. It’s not “all in your head”. And you don’t have to get used to it.
In Chinese medicine, menstrual pain is a sign of Qi and Blood stagnation in the meridians of the uterus. Acupuncture aims to get this circulation moving again, relax spasms and rebalance the cycle, looking at the source of the pain rather than masking it.
What you feel
Cramps 1 to 2 days before your period, pain in the lower abdomen and back, being unable to work, painkillers that aren’t enough.
What acupuncture does
Helps relax spasms, improve circulation in the lower abdomen and ease cramps. Many women notice a change over the first few cycles.
How many sessions?
Usually 4 to 6 sessions, ideally starting one week before your period. A full assessment is carried out at the first consultation.
Symptoms we commonly support:
- Disabling cramps before and during periods
- Periods that are too heavy or too short
- Back pain and headaches linked to the cycle
- Irregular or absent periods (amenorrhoea)
- Nausea and intense fatigue during periods
Menopause · Perimenopause
Hot flushes: take back control naturally
Sweating at night, suddenly overheating in the middle of a meeting, no longer sleeping: there are hormone-free options to help you feel better during this time.
In Chinese medicine, hot flushes reflect Kidney Yin deficiency: the cooling energy runs low and Yang rises unchecked. Acupuncture aims to calm the heat, settle the night sweats and support better sleep.
Hot flushes
Many women find them less frequent and less intense over the course of treatment.
Night sweats
Sleep often improves first; many patients notice it within the first few sessions.
A hormone-free option
For women who cannot or do not wish to take hormone therapy, in agreement with their gynaecologist.
Premenstrual syndrome · Hormonal transition
The 10 days before your period shouldn’t be the worst of the month
Sudden irritability, sore breasts, a bloated belly, tears for no reason: PMS is not “all in your head”. It’s an imbalance that can be supported.
In Chinese medicine, PMS is mainly linked to Liver Qi stagnation: when energy doesn’t flow freely, emotions overflow and the body tenses up. Acupuncture aims to release this stagnation and restore a smooth flow throughout the cycle.
- Irritability, anxiety, tearfulness before periods
- Tender, painful breasts
- Bloating and water retention
- Intense fatigue in the week before your period
- Cyclical headaches
- Mood swings in perimenopause
Perimenopause: don’t wait for it to get worse
Between 40 and 50, cycles become unpredictable. Starting acupuncture early can help you go through this transition more calmly.
